Huarocondo Schools

There are so many projects to complete in Huarocondo. Below you will find three main projects that we are planning undertake starting this year. We have selected these projects to start with because we believe that they will have the most immediate impact on the town and will greatly benefit the children of Huarocondo and their most needy sick citizens. Each project has already been organized and all the logistics are in place, so we just need your cooperation and support to make them happen.

Huarocondo Primary & Elementary School

Location: This primary school is a government school called #50108. The school has two sites. A few years ago, as part of Fujimori's projects of "Build a school per day" the government built a new school, which is located in front of this facility, which was the school before the new construction. However, this new school is not big enough to hold all the children in the area and the town is using the old school for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. Information about number of children: 360 children Primary needs: The primary school has 9 rooms for classes, 2 bathrooms and a small garden/patio. The Pre-school has two small classrooms and a room for snacks, two bathrooms and a patio. Their primary needs are many. We need to replace all of the roofs on the buildings as they leak and during rain storms the noise is so loud the students cannot work. We will also be making substantial infrastructure improvements by replacing doors windows and installing electrical connections and toilets (yes, unfortunately the current structure does not have these facilities and there have been issues with contamination). As we complete each room, we will also be painting and providing new chairs (the old chairs are so small that the older children don't fit), a blackboard and other supplies (crayons, paper, notebooks, etc) to assure a quality study environment. Finally, we are going to improve the school grounds by making the garden a safe and pleasant area for the children to play.
